Tony Award winning actresses Christine Ebersole (42nd Street and Dinner at Eight) and Judith Ivey (Steaming and Hurlyburly) will star as Mary Queen of Scots and Queen Elizabeth I in a reading of DEAREST COUSIN, a new play by Enid Rudd. The reading will take place at Theatre Rows Lion Theatre (410 West 42nd Street) on Wednesday, May 28th at 3:00PM. Leonard Peters directs.
DEAREST COUSIN offers a between-the-scenes-of-the-history-book glance at two of historys most fascinating women. On the eve of her execution, Mary, Queen of Scots, is visited by Elizabeth I, offering a scheme to save her life. Peerless enemies, yet family, the complex relationship of these two cousins is revealed as their encounters are traced back in time to their first secret meeting.
The reading is produced by The StoryLine Project LLC, a commercial theatre company formed in 1996, dedicated to discovering and producing plays with artistic and commercial merit, telling dynamic stories. Under Executive Director R.K. Greene, SLP developed a detailed analytical approach for selecting uncommon stories by accomplished playwrights deserving audience exposure. The resulting research has uncovered a pipeline of fine new plays including DEAREST COUSIN. A New York production is planned for the 2003 - 04 season.
Roger Gindi is the General Manager for DEAREST COUSIN.
